Thai Hutch Bistro in Hutchinson opened its doors June 30, and chef and owner Yada Isainkure is ready to share with the community a little of herself through her food.
Hutchinson’s new spot for Asian cuisine already has quite a bit of foot traffic, which Isainkure attributes to Thai Hutch Bistro’s to-go order-only operation.
Isainkure picked Hutchinson to open Thai Hutch BIstro because they noticed Hutchinson did not have a Thai food restaurant.
Wanting everything to be perfect before even considering serving food, Isainkure spent six months preparing to open the doors, working with all the necessary licensing agencies and contractors.
This is because, for Isainkure, cooking is a representation of herself and her expectations.
“I think my recipes are something different,” Isainkure said. “I use my heart to make every dish delicious because if I cannot eat it, then I do not want other people to eat it. I make my food how I make myself.”
To that measure, Isainkure tries to make Thai Hutch Bistro’s menu as authentic as possible. She said that can be challenging considering there are certain authentic Thai ingredients not immediately available or at all around Kansas or the U.S.
“There are some ingredients from Thailand that we cannot find, so we use a few American and Mexican ingredients,” Isainkure said. “I try to make my recipes the same way as Thai recipes with what is here.”
Isainkure cited the mangoes she uses in her sticky rice as an example. While still making her sticky rice the authentic Thai way, she explained that a mango grown in Mexico is a little more sour compared to the sweeter taste of mangoes in Thailand.
Isainkure is originally from Thailand and immigrated to the U.S. in 2016.
She and her husband moved to Kansas from Atlanta, Ga. to find a peaceful life in the countryside.
“It was so crowded in Atlanta,” Isainkure said. “We traveled a lot to see where we could live and yes, we chose Kansas. We like it here.”
Isainkure was taught to cook by her mother and found it was nice to be appreciated for her cooking.
Her managerial skills come from her time living in Atlanta where she operated a restaurant.
Isainkure has another restaurant in Kinsley, Kan.
She is happy to have opened Thai Hutch Bistro to much success. In the few days it has been open, Thai Hutch Bistro’s most popular menu item is the Pad Thai noodles.
“I found that in the few days we have been open, a lot of people have ordered the Pad Thai and the curries,” Isainkure said.
The affordable food prices at Thai Hutch Bistro are something Isainkure is proud of and anticipates to stay the same.
Thai Hutch Bistro has no intention of moving from its location at 1524 E. 4th Ave. and that is to maximize its to-go order setup.
Thai Hutch Bistro has seating for waiting customers but not for dine-in. The best way to enjoy its full menu is to call ahead at 620-833-4085.
Isainkure said she will eventually have an option to order online but wants to wait until she has more staff.
Thai Hutch Bistro is hiring for multiple positions including cooks and front-of-house.
Thai Hutch Bistro is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day except for Tuesday.
