Nate Dreiling will be inducted into MIAA Hall of Fame
Former Hutchinson High School and Pittsburg State football standout Nate Dreiling will be inducted into the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association Hall of Fame in June.
The MIAA announced on Thursday that Dreiling will be inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2024 in a ceremony on June 3 in the Music Hall at the Kansas City, Mo., Convention Center.
Dreiling was a four-time state champion and two-time first-team all-state pick. He broke the school’s single-season tackle record as a senior.
Dreiling capped off his high school career in the summer of 2009, as a participant in the Kansas Shrine Bowl game.
Dreiling was a four-time NCAA Division II All-America selection at Pittsburg State. He became just the third player in school history to earn All-America honors all four seasons as a Gorilla.
Dreiling was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year in 2011 and NCAA Division II Defensive Player of the Year. He made 139 tackles with 17.0 tackles-for-loss, seven interceptions and six pass breakups.
Dreiling earned NCAA Division II Freshman of the Year honors in 2010 when he led the country with 160 tackles and 20.5 tackles-for-loss
He set Pitt State and MIAA records for career tackles (491) and helped lead the Gorillas to the 2011 NCAA Division II National Championship.
Dreiling was inducted into the PSU Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023.
Dreiling recently became the defensive coordinator/defensive ends coach at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. He will begin his first season in 2024.
