“Arts & Eats” will showcase hands-on activities and local food trucks on Thursday, July 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at DCI Park on the corner of 2nd Ave. and Main St.
"This month is centered around DCI Park at 2nd Ave. and Main St. This is something we are experimenting with — springboarding on our Lunch in the Park on Mondays when we bring in food trucks. We know that DCI Park is a beautiful space," Hutch Rec Arts and Humanities Coordinator Jacelyn Chambers said.
The July celebration will provide art activities for all ages, including a partnership with Kara Vaughn’s “Chalk The Town,” featuring chalk art and a scavenger hunt for families.
The splinters-N-Rust DIY Workshop will bring supplies and assist with interactive art projects for all ages.
Hutch Rec’s Fox Trot Studio at 13 E Sherman is teaming up with the Hutchinson Art Center for a unique digital art experience on Friday, in honor of the center’s 75th anniversary celebration.
Live music from 7 STAR and Mood Swingz will provide the background for live art projects by local artists. Vendor booths will be lined up in what Chambers calls “Artists Alley” under a big tent, and food trucks will dot the perimeter.
Thursday’s weather forecast shows a high of 85 at 6 p.m., dropping to 77 by 9 p.m., a welcome relief from Monday’s predicted 106-degree high.
Third Thursday will finish the season with August's “Dog Days of Summer” and “Reno County School Spirit” in September.
Chambers teased the October Third Thursday theme, "The Haunting of Cow Creek," explaining that many details have yet to be finalized.
